We were 18 motivated high school graduates who had set themselves an ambitious target. We wanted to break the existing world record for the largest Kaiserschmarren and we managed it! We got together with dedicated professors from the Kaiserhof Provincial Hotel School in Merano and started to plan this challenging event, including calculating the recipe exactly.
Then, in April 2017, we were ready to bake 250 kg raw mixture over glowing embers in a custom-made record frying pan. There were 12 of us standing around the roasting hot pan to take on the challenge of preparing the Kaiserschmarren under the critical gaze of the visitors.
The whole effort paid off in the end as we beat the existing record by 80 kg.
