A family affair

WE AND HOTEL RITSCH HAVE GROWN TOGETHER

When Anton Malfertheiner married Johanna Stufferin from the Römerschwaige in 1960, our house was still a small Schwaige, a traditional alpine dairy hut. With great love and perseverance, Anton and Johanna - pioneers of tourism on the Alpe di Siusi - gradually extended the building, laying the foundations for today’s Hotel Ritsch. We now run the house in the third generation.

We take pride in preserving the legacy of our forebears and seeing it flourish.

The Malfertheiner family

What has changed since then

The old bridle path up to our alpine mountain hotel is now a surfaced access road - though the alpine plateau, today traffic-calmed, has lost none of its charm. Over time, the original inn was joined by guest rooms, a panoramic terrace, a (now closed) car park, lounges, a wellness area and finally a garage. Seating areas, the terrace and the rooms have been expanded, improved and renovated many times. And since Anton purchased the first motor sled for grooming the cross-country trails in 1973, we have become a beloved destination for Nordic skiers.

Us, today

Four Malfertheiners still work at Hotel Ritsch and are there for our guests every day. Senior host Kurt is not only our caretaker but also runs the farm, while his wife Rita can be found in the office, at the stove, or anywhere else a helping hand is needed. Junior host Michael is gradually stepping into his parents’ footsteps, bringing fresh ideas to the hotel. His younger sister Steffi is our creative spirit..
