Like many other great ideas, this also came
about at the bar following a glass or two of red wine. Seven young
“Alplerinnen” ladies (including my sister Steffi) and a Sarnerin lady (native
of Val Sarentino South Tyrol) decided that balmy summer evening in 2015 to
shake up the South Tyrolean folk dancing scene and founded the Alpler
Plattlergitschen.
The public loved her first major appearance
at the Alpler Church Day festival (3rd Sunday in September). Since then, you
can see the Alpler Plattlergitschen doing their skilful performances of Alpine
folk dance again and again at various events such as the Moonlight Classic
Cross-Country Skiing Race, the Castelrotto village festival or the Bergler
nights in Tires al Catinaccio.
